On December 3, several families and staff joined in the festivities in Hillsborough! We had balloons, pens and elves. Thanks to everyone who came out!

Or you could have a nice chopped salad, or a sandwich, or some dumplings. It doesn't matter what you have, just have it on November 14 at California Pizza Kitchen and Pinewoods gets 20% of your bill!

Three mornings a week, Pinewoods welcomes our littlest students. We now have 5 children between 18 months and 2 and a half years old enjoying our new toddler classroom with teacher Joy Langley. And the response has been very positive! Here is what one parent told us:

Did you know that Pinewoods also has an after school program that is open to all children -- even if your child does not attend Pinewoods? We already have several children who attend area schools that join us at 3:10pm each day for a variety of activities.

We share snack time, stories, and playground time together daily.
The children also regularly have free art time. We are currently engaged in making personal board games and learning simple origami.

What makes the after school program unique this year is the addition of regular lessons in Spanish and art, as well as individual violin and guitar classes. We look forward to welcoming more students into our after school family so that we can take advantage of even more activities at Faulkner's.

Last year, Pinewoods hosted our first ever fall festival. The response from parents and children was so positive, we decided to do it again.

This year's festival will set up a little differently, with a $5 admission that allows children to jump in the bouncy house, play games, get face paint and and have treats. And of course, we hope everyone will come in costume!

Just in time for the open house on September 23,  parents, staff and students alike were able to see all their hard work pay off.  The doors to the new elementary classroom, art room and administrative space were opened, and the toddler room was readied.  It was quite a site to see.

The children have been enjoying the space, as the elementary class in particular now has more room to spread out over tables, shared workstations, computer desks and plenty of floor space. The new art room is already home to a stunning gallery of work, giving our art teacher a place to introduce the children to charcoal, stencils, stamping and more.

We are so grateful to everyone who helped us see this vision through, and those volunteers who helps us continue to make it better for children and teachers alike. Watching Pinewoods grow is one of the many joys of being part of the community.
