Dear Parents,
December Calendar
Tomorrow, the elementary students will leave campus at 1:30 p.m. to sing to the residents of Carillon Long-Term Care Facility. We will return to campus before our 3:00 dismissal. This has become a tradition at Pinewoods and part of their music curriculum.
On Friday, Pinewoods will be celebrating the holidays together before we all leave for winter break. As is tradition, each classroom will host a small party from 11 a.m. until our 12 p.m. dismissal. We hope that parents will be able to join us in the festivities. We would like to offer the students some treats as part of the celebration. If you are able to contribute a small cookie tray or a small fruit/vegetable tray, please email me by Tuesday.
Pinewoods will be closed from noon on December 20 through January 3. Classes will resume on January 6.
Capital Campaign
Before we all leave to spend time with family and friends, will you consider a small donation to the Pinewoods Capital Campaign? Pinewoods was founded in 1992 on the premise of wanting to offer a Montessori education to all of those invested in the philosophy. Please help us continue to expand on the programs offered by Pinewoods. We have been challenged by a Pinewoods family to raise $1K by December 31. If we meet or exceed the challenge, an anonomous family will donate $2K. (Forty-seven dollars from each of us would do it).
Colonial America Projects
The upper elementary students have been working on a Colonial America project. They will be presenting their projects on Thursday afternoon to the rest of the class. If your child has been involved in the project and you would like to attend, you are invited to join us on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. Otherwise, the projects will be on display on Friday during the holiday party.
Thank you
Our service project sponsoring a local family in conjunction with the Orange County Department of Social Services was a huge success. Elementary students organized the project, wrote letters to the community, made snowflakes with all of the students at school, tracked donations, labeled gifts, went shopping and finally delivered the presents. We expect our family to have a wonderful holiday season thanks to the generous of our community and hard work from our students.
Merry Christmas to all,
Jo Ann and Summer
