Pinewoods Montessori in Hillsborough invites parents, caregivers and their children to attend its open house, 11am - 1pm on Saturday February 21, 2015.
Pinewoods has programs for toddlers, ages 18 months to 2 ½ years old, preschoolers from 2 ½ to five years old, and elementary age children ages five to twelve years old.
“We want families to understand that the Montessori educational philosophy is tailored to the individual child and helps them become a part of a growing social community. Our children gain experiences with core academic subjects while acquiring essential life skills to meet each child’s educational needs,” says Pinewoods Montessori Head of School Jennifer Sewell.
Interested parents are encouraged and welcome to observe the classrooms during the school day as well, and Ms. Sewell asks that you schedule a private observation by calling 919-644-2090 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Early in the 20th century, Dr. Maria Montessori envisioned a radically different approach to education -- an approach grounded in close and insightful observations of children rather than in adult convenience and misconception.
For 100 years, Montessori has offered a brain-based, developmental educational method that allows children to make creative choices in discovering the people, places, and knowledge of the world. It emphasizes hands-on learning, self expression, and collaborative play in a beautifully-crafted environment of respect, peace, and joy.
