Selecting an Independent School
Selecting a school is a process of finding a good match between your goals for your child and school offerings. When you choose an independent school, you join a community that has come together because of shared beliefs and aspirations for children. At Pinewoods, these beliefs are grounded in Montessori philosophy and methods.
Pinewoods is an independent school not because we seek to exclude, but because we want to offer an expansive education to young children, unencumbered by the constraints associated with public education. At Pinewoods, we value a community that represents diversity in all its forms, including economic diversity. We are committed to creating a culture of kindness among the adults and the children we serve. We look forward to your child and family joining our community of care.

Admissions at Pinewoods Montessori
We invite families to visit Pinewoods and discover the many benefits of a Montessori education by visiting us for a tour or attending one of our admissions events. We proudly offer a child-centered curriculum that pays attention to the needs of the whole child, social, emotional, academic, and physical. Our classrooms are open to children when they turn eighteen months and extend through grade 6, making it possible to grow up at Pinewoods where we cherish childhood.
Acceptance of an applicant is based on several factors including a successful match between the family and the school. We consider factors related to your child’s individual, developmental readiness to ensure appropriate placement in our school. Assessments, grades, progress reports, test scores and teacher references are an important part of the selection process for applicants for the Elementary programs.
Siblings of current students, siblings of former students, children of staff, Montessori transfer students, and families who have completed all application requirements receive priority consideration from the Prospective Student Pool. A student’s date of application does not influence an offer of enrollment. Applicants are offered enrollment for available spaces as the school seeks to achieve a balance in each classroom. This balance is integral to the Montessori method of multi-age education. Mid-year acceptance is limited.
