Lead Toddler Guide / Teacher

Toddler Lead Teachers are responsible for the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth and development of 12 students in a full-day, multi-age classroom. Lead teachers work collaboratively with the other Toddler classroom and the Assistant Teacher to prepare and maintain a Montessori environment, including developmentally appropriate materials and activities. The Lead teacher is responsible for establishing and maintaining a classroom true to the Montessori philosophy, including fostering a classroom community of respect and kindness. Lead teachers demonstrate warm regard, self-regulation, integrity, curiosity, responsibility, and creativity with a deep respect for racial, cultural, and gender diversity. 

Pinewoods educators model integrity, curiosity, responsibility, creativity, and respect for all persons as well as an appreciation for racial, cultural, and gender issues and diversity. Educators adhere to the PWMS mission, for the purpose of maintaining safety and excellence. All staff are required to support the full school community through collaborative, positive approaches, and completion of additional duties as assigned, including student support on the car line and program leadership through committee participation.​

Required knowledge, dispositions, and skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
  • Preferred, Montessori-trained (AMS or MACTE credential)
  • Preferred, two-years of teaching experience in a Montessori classroom
  • Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion and belonging

Extended Day / After School Educator

Our Extended Day / After School program provides programs for students aged 3 to 12, after the school day ends. Opportunities for full-time summer employment are also open to the person who fills this position.

Extended Day Educators work 3, 4 or 5 days per week. The hours for this position are 2:30pm–5:30pm.

The strongest candidates will demonstrate strong organizational skills, skilled emotion regulation, experience with relational behavioral management or restorative justice practices, experience working with children in a multi-aged, child- centered, play-based or classroom environment, the ability to design and implement engaging programming that supports the social, emotional, academic, artistic, and physical development of young children.

Required knowledge, dispositions, and skills:
  • Preferred, Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
  • Preferred, Montessori-trained (AMS or MACTE credential)
  • Preferred, minimum two-years of experience in schools
  • Fluency in English with clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion and belonging

*CPR and First Aid Certified required, training sponsored by the school if needed

Substitute Teachers (Ongoing)

Substitute teachers are a vital part of program, student, and staff success at Pinewoods. We offer competitive pay, including bonuses for related certifications. We support our new subs with paid orientations.
